Volunteers from the Save Open Space and Agricultural Resources (S.O.A.R) campaign turned in petitions containing more than 35,000 signatures to the Ventura County Clerk’s office Tuesday in an effort to place a countywide initiative on the November 2016 ballot.

“The county initiative means that all voters in the county get to weigh in on any proposed rezoning that the Board of Supervisors might undertake, which, of course, applies to unincorporated county land,” said S.O.A.R. Executive Director Karen Schmidt.
