The Meiners Oaks bioswale is expected to divert thousands of gallons of water from storm drains.

El Niño has been a disappointment for the Ojai Valley, at least so far. Though the valley received a small amount of rain Wednesday and Thursday, slightly more than a half inch, Ojai has received approximately 50 percent of normal precipitation for this time of the year, according to the Ventura County Watershed Protection District (VCWPD).
Given the continued drought, many community members are looking at ways to preserve the stormwater we do receive, rather than let it wash down the storm drain.
