The ban on short-term rentals in Ojai is apparently here to stay. The Ojai City Council voted Tuesday to uphold the ban and begin enforcement Feb. 1. It set the fine for non-compliance at $500.
Council directed staff to begin enforcement by mailing warning letters to those in violation for the next four months.
Critics of the ban claim these types of rentals are necessary to support Ojai’s tourist economy, as well as their own finances, while others, along with city officials, maintain Ojai’s zoning and general plan were established to protect neighborhood integrity and Ojai’s small town character.
