St. Thomas Aquinas Church opened its doors to Ojai’s homeless community with the offer of a hot meal and an invitation to spend the night indoors Tuesday.
Temperatures in Ojai Monday night dipped to 27 degrees according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday marked the beginning of shelter season, which runs from Dec. 1 through March 31. During this time, the Ojai Valley Family Shelter (OVFS) provides a hot meal, warm shower and clean sleeping space in the evening and breakfast the next morning for homeless community members.
