Although autumn has officially begun, the summer hasn’t quite given up in California – and neither have the mosquitos carrying West Nile virus. Yet another dead bird infected with the disease was collected in Ojai late in September, according to the County of Ventura’s Environmental Health Division.
“The county has a very active vector-control program,” Steve Offerman said Thursday. Offerman is administrative assistant to Ventura County District 1 Supervisor Steve Bennett. “Crews go around the county regularly, looking for standing water sources, and when they find one, they take measures.”
