For last two years, Vicki Cohen has successfully resisted having a Southern California Edison (SCE) SmartMeter installed at her Ojai Avenue thrift store. That changed recently when four trucks and five SCE employees arrived at Pink Thrift early one morning.
According to Cohen, she identified herself as the owner and asked one of the men why they were there. That man, who Cohen said wore neither uniform nor name tag, told her they were there to replace her electric meter. Cohen says she asked for an extra day before proceeding, and the SCE worker told her she could have it — if she agreed not to “call the paper.”
