A vacant look in their eye

The city of Ojai could be a little better equipped for dealing with vacant buildings before long. The Ojai City Council voted four to one Tuesday in favor of revisions to the city’s vacant building ordinance and the implementation of a concurrent schedule for fees and fines.
Ojai Municipal Code, Title 9, Chapter 15, relates to vacant property maintenance, security and registration. The amendments to its text came in the form of recommendations from the Ojai Building Appeals Board (BAB). The appearance of these amendments on Tuesday’s agenda marked their first public reading.
