A return to Chorro: Signs of life showing in area burned during wildfire three weeks ago

The Chorro Grande Trail has reopened following a wildfire that broke out along Highway 33 Aug. 2. The blaze burned 282 acres.
Three weeks after the Chorro Fire started, I hiked the trail to survey the early stages of the area’s recovery, and saw firsthand the work of firefighters and support personnel who prevented a possible disaster.
