Christina Murillo took a sabbatical from the University of Michigan a year ago to join the Mexican national soccer team.
“Obviously, it was very unique taking off a year and leaving my team,” the Nordhoff High graduate explained. “Going to a different country was very hard to adjust to, but it became an experience I’ll never forget. I learned so much as a player. I have no regrets.”
Murillo played 90 minutes at center back in the FIFA World Cup Group F qualifying round opener, a 1-1 tie with Colombia, in Canada
