At about 7 p.m. Monday, a 10-year-old boy who had been missing all afternoon in Upper Ojai was reunited with his family in the parking lot of Summit Elementary School.
Sammy Evans was reported missing around 11 a.m. Monday, and soon after, emergency crews — as well as several Upper Ojai residents — began the search for Evans.
Michael Grossman and Roscoe the bloodhound, of Ventura County K9 Search and Rescue, were among them. As the pair headed up to do a location check at Koenigstein Road late Monday afternoon, “I noticed the dog indicated no scent past the street,” said Grossman. Roscoe had been tracking a scent, but did not find anything past Koenigstein Road — so up they went.
