Pine Mountain Buddhist Temple, a 45-acre oasis for those in search of meditation or a spiritual retreat, is tucked along Lockwood Valley Road and separated from Ojai by about 40 miles, but for many it is still very much part of local culture. For more than 15 years, the Revs. Phoebe and Seikai have opened their sanctuary — three houses, outdoor shrines, hiking trails and gardens — to those seeking some solitude and silence in a world overrun with noise.
