A passer-by found the wreckage of a twin-engine Cessna 337 in an oil field about 4 miles southeast of Santa Paula airport Saturday afternoon. The plane's sole occupant was killed. The Ventura County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as 82-year-old Jim Breeding, of Ojai.
According to Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration's Pacific Division, "It appears the aircraft crashed several days ago."
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
