Though Bowlt and Misler’s library can be seen from Sisar Road, none of their neighbors have issued a complaint. In fact, 36 signed a petition supporting them. (Ojai Valley News photo by Kimberly Rivers)

A half-built metal structure awaits its fate on Sisar Road property in Upper Ojai. Will it have to be dismantled? Will it be relocated? Or will construction be allowed to continue on the building, a library which would house 30,000 works from around the world? A Ventura County Planning Commission hearing Thursday will determine the next step.
Upper Ojai couple John Bowlt and Nicoletta Misler have filed for a variance to keep their building where it is. They say construction should be allowed to continue because — according to county documents — an approval was granted for their site plan and building height as it is constructed.
