The Golden State Water Company says tighter restrictions might be necessary for its customers in Ojai, and these restrictions could be coming soon.
"Golden State Water’s Ojai customers are falling short of reaching the State Water Resources Control Board’s reduction mandate of 36 percent," the company announced in a press release Friday. "The community has reduced its water use by 32 percent through July 12." The June 1 to June 30 reduction was also 32 percent.
If Ojai customers fail to achieve the 36 percent reduction mandated by the state, the release went on to say, "We could be required to either reduce the number of water days per week or progress to a different stage, which would include allocations and emergency drought surcharges."
