The Casitas Municipal Water District is now considering water rate increases for all its customers. Among the options presented to the finance committee Friday morning: A 7% annual rate increase for all its customers, which would be applied each year through 2020.
Two other, more complicated options were also presented. No decisions were made, however.
Board members Friday expressed a desire to hold at least one rate review workshop next month, to more fully examine the district's options and to explain them to the public. The date of the workshop will be set on or before the next board meeting Aug. 12.
The rate increases are being considered because state-mandated water use reductions will result in less income to the district.
