Council to hear plan for low- income housing

Affordable housing is one of the central items to be discussed at the July 14 Ojai City Council meeting, specifically a proposal to develop a city-owned property adjacent to an Ojai Public Works Department storage area. The Ojai Affordable Housing Committee — which includes Ojai residents Judy Murphy and Bill Miley, together with Santa Barbara nonprofit group Peoples’ Self-help Housing — are spearheading the effort. They reference the current Ojai Housing Element, which describes the property as “vacant and underutilized,” and as such, if any offers are made on the property, both groups request the city give priority to potential low-income housing development.
