Airplane crashes in Ventucopa

An aircraft crashed about 50 miles north of Ojai, near Ventucopa and Cuyama, Monday, resulting in a one-acre fire and large debris field. 
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson Ian Gregor said the airplane was a single-engine S312 Tucano MK1. The pilot was killed; it is believed that he or she was the only person onboard. It is unknown at this time where the plane was headed, nor from where it was coming.
Santa Barbara County Fire responded at 9:30 a.m. and are on scene with Ventura County Fire Department , Ventura County Sheriff's Office and Los Padres Forest Service. The Ventura County Coroner, Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have also been requested at the scene.
Circumstances surrounding the crash are unknown at this time; the National Transportation Safety Board, along with the FAA, is investigating.
