A landlord got an unwelcome surprise Wednesday afternoon while cleaning out a vacant Casitas Springs residence. According to Capt. John Reilly of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office (VCSO), "more than two pipe bombs" were discovered in an isolated area inside the residence.
While an unwelcome surprise for the landlord, the incident was an opportunity for on-the-job training for the VCSO bomb squad, which just happened to be holding a routine training session when the call went out around 2:05 p.m.
