Sanitary District raising rates by 2 percent

Bill Warner, Ojai Valley News reporter
New budgets are in store for the Ojai Valley Sanitary District (OVSD) in the two fiscal years to come, along with rate increases for its customers. The OVSD board of directors approved its budgets for 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 during a special session Monday at the district's offices on Tico Road, authorizing 2 percent rate increases for each year.
The current monthly rate of $52.42 would increase by $1.05 beginning July 1, according to OVSD general manager Jeff Palmer, bringing the cost of residential sewer service to $53.47 per month. With July 1, 2016, the rate will increase again, this time by $1.07, he said. July 1 marks the start of the OVSD's fiscal year.
