The deadline has passed, the entries are in, and the turnout appears to have been better than ever for Ojai's Young Filmmakers Competition.
"It's been a wonderful response," said Ojai Film Society Board Member Kitty Winn. "It's been really exciting to see the kids put themselves into it like this."
A total of 29 student films were entered in this year's competition, according to Winn, surpassing the former record of 17. The competition accepts entries in all genres, she said. "And there were documentaries, narratives, stop-action films — everything you could think of and then some."
