The California Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR) has signed off on the cleanup of a leak and crude oil spill in Upper Ojai. March 21, an OSPR environmental scientist inspected the site and confirmed the cleanup was complete.
Alexia Ratallack, spokesperson with OSPR, confirmed California Resources Corporation (CRC) had located a leak in its pipeline under a private roadway, near where the crude oil was discovered in a dry tributary last week in Upper Ojai. Ratallack said CRC repaired the leak and continued the cleanup as directed by OSPR personnel.
Ratallack did say lab tests are still pending on crude oil sampled at the spill site. The tests are used to fully confirm the spilled oil came from the leaking pipe.
