With the first 31 days of 2015 now on record as the driest January in state history, the importance of water might be gaining appropriate ground, so to speak, in our collective awareness.
Raising such an awareness was certainly one aim of Chumash Elder and Matriarch Julie Tumamait-Stenslie, who led a “Call for Rain” Saturday in Soule Park. “We are only in March,” she said. “We have all the way to May to see the rain we need.”
